Sino-heavymach Wins "China Industry-University-Research Collaborative Innovation Achievement Award"

On March 16, the 16th China Industry-University-Research Collaborative Innovation Conference was held in Beijing, and over a thousand front-line representatives from government, industry, university, and research institute across the country attended this conference, as well as the responsible officials from relevant national ministries and commissions. China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Sino-heavymach for short) was awarded the Second Prize in the China Industry-University-Research Collaborative Innovation Achievement Award for its project titled “Development and Application of a New Type of Continuous Casting Mould Equipment for High-Efficiency and High-Performance Precision Slabs”. This award, established with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Office for Science and Technology Awards, is one of the highest honors in the field of industry-university-research collaboration in China.

The conference held various activities of policy interpretations, keynote speeches, interactive exchanges, case sharing, achievement publishing, and demand matchmaking, focused on the theme of deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation. It showcased the industry-university-research collaborative innovation teams and figures, and technological and scientific innovative achievements that made enormous contributions in 2024 through deep integration of industry, university, and research institute. Additionally, the conference supported the establishment of a number of closely integrated collaborative innovation platforms that bridge industry, university, research institute, and its application.

The award-winning project was led by Sino-heavymach, and jointly completed in collaboration with Chongqing University and Xi'an Jiaotong University. It showed the technological R&D achievements from the past decade of cooperation between Sino-heavymach's continuous casting team and these universities. The project's outcomes have been industrialized and applied in multiple steel enterprises, greatly enhancing the production efficiency, slab quality, and energy utilization efficiency of continuous casting, which has gained substantial economic and social benefits.

This award highlighted the excellent accomplishment of Sino-heavymach in industry-university-research collaboration, and is also a vivid embodiment of Sino-heavymach’s mission of  “Serving the country and Equipping the World with Technology”.Leveraging this opportunity, Sino-heavymach will further strengthen its close collaboration with universities and relevant partners. It will continue to increase its investment in innovation, and accelerate the establishment of a deeply integrated industry-university-research ecosystem. This effort aims to contribute significantly to the R&D and application of high-end equipment production lines, and the high-quality development of the steel industry in China.

The China Industry-University-Research Collaboration Innovation Conference has been successfully held for 15 sessions, facilitating the matchmaking of over 1,000 industry-university-research achievements, and witnessing the implementation of more than 100 major technological advancements. The conference has played a pivotal role in integrating innovation resources, building innovation platforms, promoting the transformation of achievements into practical applications, and cultivating and developing new quality productivity, also had a profound influence across the national industry-university-research circles and communities.
